DECLARATION HOUSE IMPACT PROJECT

In October of 2016, in  cooperation with Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership, REAL Life Community Services purchase the building formerly known as the “Denver House”.  Our vision is to renovate the building in order to provide affordable apartments and offer a community service “Hub”.  And, Welsh Mountain Health Centers will offer medical, dental services, and behavior health counseling!

This could not have been done without the tenacious work of LHOP’s CEO, Ray D’Agostino, and his team! From October through December of 2016, over 200 volunteers worked for over 2000 hours to gut the building. This was to get it ready for engineers to decide the best plan of attact in turning a nineteenth century hotel into a twenty first century apartment building and health center.  Over 27 dumpsters of debris were taken to the county dump and many thousands of pounds of metal were recycled from the old pipes, radiators and other metal parts of the building.

We know the work isn’t done yet! We are currently working on the capital campaign, talking to area businesses, churches and foundations  We need raise almost $3.5 million to renovate the building and excavate the grounds.  This will include the installation of 40+ parking spaces. With your help, and that of many construction volunteers, we know we can make this dream a reality in no time!  There are many ways your group can help.  If you want to learn more about the Denver House Collective Impact Project or to give to the project, please email Christine@reallcs.org.
